West Bridgfordians are delighted to announce the club have completed the signing of top-order batsman Ryan Rickelton for the 2019 season.

The 22-year-old has represented South Africa at U-19 level and currently plays his first-class and one-day cricket for Johannesburg side Highveld Lions. Since his professional debut in 2015 Ryan has scored 2,405 runs at an average of 48.10 including 4 centuries and 12 half centuries.

Rickelton joins us after a successful season winning the new Mzansi Super League with the Jozi Stars, playing alongside Chris Gayle and Notts Outlaws favourite Dan Christian. Ryan accumulated 251 runs at an average of 27.88.

“The acquisition of Ryan is a huge coup for us” said club captain Alastair Pettit.

“He is an exceptional talent with first class pedigree who adds star quality to our batting line-up.

“Having played amongst some of the world’s best cricketers, Ryan brings valuable insight and experience to our young side which will help us develop and achieve successful results on the field.

As well as adding quality batting to the clubs 1st team, Alastair added that “Ryan will be a fantastic addition for the club off the field, as he will be able to coach our largely talented junior section. We can’t wait to welcome Ryan to West Bridgford next summer.”

Rickelton will be sponsored by Lee C Dowdall Wealth Management Limited for the 2019 season. The club would like to thank them for all their hard work and dedication in bringing Ryan to the club. West Bridgfordians Chairman Stuart Clark has stated “I would like to personally thank the directors Lee and Michelle Dowdall for helping us to bring Ryan to the club next season. Without their sponsorship we simply would not have been able to bring a player of this quality to West Bridgfordians.”

We would also like to express our thanks to Robert Humphries of World Sport Exchange for his assistance in bringing Ryan to the club. The destructive left-hander will now join us for the start of the 2019 campaign in April.
