After what seemed like months in the planning, the WBCC Beer Festival came and went over the last week-end. We were blessed with fine weather which is always a help and allowed our guests to spill outside and take advantage of the newly erected marquee to view the week-ends cricketing activities.

I think it can be said that without exception, all 21 of our cask ales and 5 ciders were in perfect condition and went down very well with all those who attended.

There were many new faces at the club across the three days and we hope that everyone enjoyed the beer as much as we enjoyed your company.

The main purpose of this note is to thank people who contributed in different ways to making the whole event a success.

Charlie & Max who provided us with great entertainment on Saturday evening, we hope you enjoyed their songs and we look forward to having them back in the future.

To all our friends at Magpie brewery who helped us secure the week-ends refreshments – thank you.

Last of all but most importantly the person who was the driving force behind the whole event, Pete Dawn, you made this the success it became and your hard work has made us many friends and given them something to take away from our club, even if it was just a headache the morning after. Well done Pete you deserve all the plaudits.

Before I go could I say that Pete has been inspired by what has taken place and intends to do the whole thing again when the Ashes Test Cricket comes to town, so hopefully we will see you all again for another extravaganza of beers and merriment starting on Wednesday 5th through to Saturday 8th August.

Kind Regards

Lyndon Hayes
