In memory of Dan Sutton, West Bridgford RFC would like to create a covered area with seating for members of the club and the other community organisations who use our facility. Dan spent much of his time watching his beloved rugby from the front of the clubhouse and always mentioned that the current area needed upgrading to complement the new clubhouse.
Dan was a man who dedicated his life to teaching and sport. He played a key role in the development of rugby at West Bridgford Rugby Club and within Notts, Lincs & Derbys RU; especially the implementation of junior rugby, alongside many other voluntary roles in both cricket and rugby.
He has left a lasting impression on so many lives and will be sorely missed by all, therefore this new project will be a fitting tribute in memory of Dan for many years to come.
We do not currently have enough usable space in the clubhouse due to the Covid 19 restrictions which will be around for the foreseeable future. This will enable us to offer external viewing and catering facilities.
The estimated project cost is £20,000. We are asking our community to come together to raise £10,000 and this we plan to match with Sport England. The Covid-19 pandemic could affect millions of people in the next few months, so having this external area will allow us to open the club to the wider community sooner. This allows the club to return to a more normal operating model and generate the income needed to sustain the club into the future.
