WBCC Newsletter w/c 28 June

Club News
It was another frustrating Friday night for everyone again as the rain decided to arrive just at the wrong time.
We’ve still managed to get lots of matches in over the week though.
On Tuesday night we will be showing the England v Germany match at the clubhouse. It will be table service inside and we will be accepting people on a first come first serve basis.

Senior Cricket
The 1st XI lost their Division A game against Belvoir after falling 25 runs short chasing 217 for victory. Saad Naseem nit his first 50 for the club but with nobody else going big defeat ensued.

The 2nd XI hosted East Bridgford at Stamford Road and posted 187-7 off 45 overs. On a wicket that got better and better to bat on the visitors made light work of the run chase with some lusty blows seeing them home with 13 overs to spare!

The 3rd team hosted struggling Awsworth and racked up 251-4 with Kwesi Spencer unbeaten on 106 and 14yo Dan Sheard hitting 85. In reply the visitors could only muster 40 all out.

Finally the 4th XI played a strong Stapleford side and left with a victory thanks to 82* from Barney Mead. Stapleford made 153 all out with the 4s romping home with 4 wickets to spare.
Junior Cricket
The U15s had no games this week.

The U14s beat Cavaliers and Carrington by 6 wickets with Usman Minhas (42*) starring with the bat and Jamie Scott (3-10) starring with the ball.

The U13s lost to Clifton Village with Toby Churchett (26*) the highlight for us.

Our U13s play in the ECB County Cup Final on Monday 5th July at Stamford Road. Game Starts at 6.00pm, Socially distanced spectators welcome.

The U12s lost to Plumtree despite good work from Thomas Pritchard (2-8) and Charlie Philpott (31*).

The U11s tied with Keyworth with everyone contributing to the team!

The U10s lost to Ellerslie and again everyone contributed with bat and ball in a close game!

The Girls, once again helped the boys in their games this week.

On Sunday 27th June we hosted the boys and girls kwik cricket games, 8 pitches in total. It was great to see so many children taking part and welcome clubs from all around the county. Thanks go to Nigel, our groundsman for preparing the wickets.
