Senior Cricket
The 1st XI travelled to Collingham in good heart after their last ball victory against Caythorpe but left disappointed after becoming victims to the same fate! A difficult scoring pitch saw WBCC post 209 with Saad Naseem top scoring with 70. In reply Collingham kept wickets in hand for the final assault but a steady flow wickets saw them needing 7 to win off the last over with 4 wickets in hand. Skipper Ally Pettit bowled the crucial over and took a wicket with his second ball but a four, a single and a leg bye off the last three saw the home side to victory. This weekend we travel to Clipstone to take on the Bassetlaw Champions who have won two out of two so far.
The 2nd XI faced a strong Flintham side at Stamford Road. After being put into bat the 2s limped to 157 all out with skipper Matt Lyon top scoring with 46. In reply the visitors romped home despite a late flurry of wickets and the target was reached with just under 10 overs remaining. Flintham maybe favourites for the Div C title based on this showing. This Saturday see the 2s host Ruddington at Stamford Road
The 3rd XI easily beat Notts and Arnold 3s at Adbolton. The wickets were shared around as the visitors stumbled to 128 all out. In reply Ian Huskinson (48*) and Mir Abdullah(71*) knocked the runs off in only 16.3 overs. This weekend the 3s host Calverton 2s at Adbolton.
The 4th XI lost away at Bottesford. The hosts made 175-7 in their 40 overs. In reply the 4s could only muster 139-6 to slip to a second defeat in a row. This weekend the 4s travel to Bingham 2s.
The 5th XI play their first game in the Development Division hosting Plumtree 4s at Stamford Road, on Sunday.
Our Women’s hardball super 8s team played their first home games of the season on Sunday and put up a fight against two strong, experienced sides in Caythorpe 2s and Market Overton. Despite coming out second best our young side are gaining loads of experience and game craft as we move forward.
