Newsletter w/c 14 June 2021

Welcome to our newsletter for the week of June 14th. It was great to so many juniors back training again on Friday evening and Sunday morning. Moving forward we are still waiting to see what is going to happen on June 21st. But unfortunately it is looking unlikely that we will be able to move all our juniors back to the normal Friday night sessions, we will confirm all the details in the next 48 hours.

Senior Cricket

The 1st XI gained a superb victory over Notts Unity Casuals chasing down  the home teams 289 with overs to spare. A superb 108 from 15yo Travis Holland was the foundation of our reply.

The 2nd XI welcomed Lowdham to Stamford Road and were asked to field. Despite some tight bowling the visitors made 186-6 off their 45 overs. In reply we had another centurion as Ian Huskinson hit a brilliant 103  not out to guide the team home for the loss of two wickets in 38 overs.

The 3rd team also had a century maker as Alex Lamb repeated his feat of last week scoring XXX as the 3s thrashed Hucknall 3s at Adbolton.

Unfortunately the 4th XI’s tough start to the season continued as they were dismantled by Lambley. The home team scored 174-8 however the 4s slumped to 30 all out to lose the game easily.

The 5th XI played Ellerslie 4th XI at a scorching Stamford Road.

Junior Cricket

We had a mixed week of results for our junior teams but the results aren’t the point, it really is the taking part that counts. These games give all of the players valuable experience of building an innings especially when you can be out after a single ball batting!

The U15s lost to Ellerslie on Thursday.

The U14s lost to Wollaton on Tuesday.

The U13s beat Caythorpe on Thursday and beat Keyworth on Tuesday.

The U12s lost to Gotham on Thursday and Ellerslie on Tuesday.

The U11s lost to Ruddington on Wednesday.

The U10s beat Wollaton on Tuesday.

The Girls were playing within the boys teams this week and they impressed everyone who watched the games! They will continue to be involved as well.

Our younger boys and girls played in the Kwik cricket games in glorious sunshine at Gotham CC and Wollaton CC. It was great to see so many happy faces enjoying their matches. Next week the boys are at Plumtree and the girls at Keyworth.
