Newsletter w/c 31st May 2021

The sun is shining! At last we have some nice weather, perfect for half term week.

We are continuing to keep the clubhouse closed on Fridays and Sundays and we are planning to keep it closed until we have news on the removal of all restrictions at the end of June.

It seems that most people are enjoying the table service at the moment anyway. Don’t forget that you can bring your own chairs on junior training sessions if the beer garden looks too busy.

Don’t forget that there is no Junior Training this Friday due to the half term.

Senior Cricket

The 1st XI gained their first outright win of the season on Saturday with a 144 run demolition of Gedling and Sherwood. Alex Winiarski top scored with 47 and contributions all down the order saw us reach 233-6. In reply the hosts couldn’t get going against our bowling attack and slumped to 89 all out. Joe Holding took 3 wickets in 4 balls, with the the 3rd ball being a wide!

The 2nd XI hosted Young Lions and their game followed a similar pattern to the 1st team’s game. Unfortunatley this was in the opposite direction as Young Lions posted 234-7. In reply the 2s could only muster 109 but one bright spot was U14s Dan Sheard 40* and 3-33.

The 3rd team lost to Wollaton 3s. Batting first on a damp wicket the 3s could only make 125 which Wollaton knocked off for the loss of 2 wickets.

The 4th XI hit 200 away at Hoveringham 2s but lost with the hosts 8 down. Sam Fitzgerald made 74* and Joe Carling 54 for us.

The 5th XI played at Ellerslie on Sunday and lot yet another close game. Chasing 130 to win the 5s made 114-5 off their 32 overs with a nice 30 for Thomas Pritchard.

Junior Cricket

The U15s were forced to abandon their game at Keyworth due to the rain. Keyworth hit 136 and we were 23-4 in reply when the rain came. The following day the U15s were heavily beaten by Plumtree in the ECB Cup.

The U14s had no game this week

The U13s game at Gedling Colliery was cancelled due to the rain.

The U12s, U11s, U10s and girls had no games this week.
