Newsletter w/c 24th May 2021

We hope that everyone has had a great week.

Unfortunately Friday training was cancelled which wasn’t a surprise considering the amount of rain we have had. When the ducks arrive at Stamford Road you know that it has been a bit too wet!

Hopefully the forecast for this week is better and we can start to see some sun at last!

Please note that we will not be holding any training on Sunday 30th May and Friday June 4th due to the half term holidays.

Senior Cricket
The 1st XI played against Collingham at Stamford Road but came out second best on a rainy day. After winning the toss the 1s managed to restrict Collingham to 154-7 off 44 overs, Kulvern Kandola being the pick of the bowlers with 3-44. In reply though, the 1s lost wickets at regular intervals and limped to a disappointing 87 all out with Saad Naseem the one showing any resistance with 33.

The 2nd XI travelled up the A46 to face Farndon and left with another win. The hosts were restricted to 111 all out with Abi Khan (3-30) and Darren Shaw (2-14) the main bowlers. In reply the 2s knocked the runs off easily with Ian Huskinson (31) and John Grimes (29*) the main scorers.

The 3rd team were supposed to be away against Clifton Village II but the weather was the winner!

The 4th XI played Coddington & Winthorpe at Adbolton Lane and came out second best. The 4s posted 117-7 off 36 overs with skipper Tom Godfrey top scoring with 42. The visitors scored 118-7 off 31.2 overs to win by 3 wickets, Alex Byrne taking 2-17 for the 4s.

The 5th team hosted Gedling Colliery’s Development team on Sunday at Stamford Road and came out second best in another close game. Gedling scored 135-7 off 32 overs, Ellie Molloson taking 3-22. In reply the 5s fell 15 runs short despite a fine opening partnership of 45 between Nick and Sam Bennett.
